HSK 1 Modal verbs

会 + verbo

Knowing how to with 会

Structure Subject + 会 + Verb

会 (huì) expresses a LEARNED skill: knowing how to do something because you studied or practised it (speaking a language, cooking, swimming). Negate with 不会. 会 also predicts the future: 明天会下雨 ("it will rain tomorrow"). For "can" in the sense of permission or circumstance you use 能/可以, not 会.

Examples

  • huìshuōzhōngwén

  • huìzuòfàn

  • míngtiānhuìxià

Levels are indicative: they follow the standard Chinese Grammar Wiki (AllSet Learning) progression, not an official HSK 3.0 mapping. We never assign levels by eye.
