Pivot construction (兼语: 有 / 派 / 委托…)
Structure Subject + V1 (有/派/委托…) + pivot + V2 + …
In the pivot construction (兼语句) one noun plays two roles at once: it is the OBJECT of the first verb and, without being repeated, the SUBJECT of the second. The first verb usually falls into two classes. (1) Existential, with 有: 门外有人找你 = "there's someone outside looking for you" (人 is the object of 有 and the subject of 找). (2) Of command or commission: 派 (send), 命 (order), 请 (ask), 委托 (entrust): 公司派他去上海 = "the company is sending him to Shanghai" (他 is the object of 派 and the subject of 去). The pivot is not repeated: it is the hinge between the two verbs. With 有 it matches an English relative clause ("there is X who…"); with 派/委托 it is a chain-of-command assignment, common in written and administrative language.
