HSK 1 Time & dates

点 / 分

Telling time (点, 分, 半)

Structure Number + 点 + Number + 分

Time is told with 点 (the o’clock hour) and 分 (minutes): 八点二十分 ("8:20"). Half past is 半: 八点半 ("half past eight"). As with measure words, "two o’clock" is 两点, not 二点. The time expression goes before the verb: 我七点半吃早饭.

Examples

  • xiànzàidiǎn

    It’s eight o’clock.

  • xiànzàidiǎnbàn

    It’s half past eight.

  • diǎnbànchīzǎofàn

I have breakfast at seven thirty.

Levels are indicative: they follow the standard Chinese Grammar Wiki (AllSet Learning) progression, not an official HSK 3.0 mapping. We never assign levels by eye.
