Days of the week (星期)

Structure 星期 + 一…六 · 星期天/日 (Sunday)

Weekdays are formed with 星期 + number: 星期一 (Monday), 星期二 (Tuesday)… up to 星期六 (Saturday). Sunday is the exception: 星期天 or 星期日, never 星期七. To ask the day: 今天星期几？ Time words go before the verb: 我星期天不工作.

Examples

今jīn天tiān星xīng期qī几jǐ？
What day is it today?
明míng天tiān星xīng期qī六liù。
Tomorrow is Saturday.
我wǒ星xīng期qī天tiān不bù工gōng作zuò。
I don’t work on Sundays.
