HSK 1 Adverbs
也
The adverb 也 (also, too)
Structure Subject + 也 + Verb/Adjective
也 (yě) means "also/too" and, like almost all Chinese adverbs, goes INSIDE the sentence, after the subject and right before the verb (or adjective). It never goes at the end like English "too". It combines with negation: 也不 ("not… either", habitual), 也没 ("not… either", past).
Examples
- 我也是学生。
I’m a student too.
- 他也喜欢中国菜。
He also likes Chinese food.
- 我也不知道。
I don’t know either.
Levels are indicative: they follow the standard Chinese Grammar Wiki (AllSet Learning) progression, not an official HSK 3.0 mapping. We never assign levels by eye.
