Distance with 离

Structure A + 离 + B + 远/近

离 (lí) expresses the distance between two points: A 离 B + 远/近 ("A is far from / near B"). 我家离公司很近 = "my home is near the office". It also works for time remaining: 离考试还有三天 ("there are three days until the exam"). No 是 needed.

Examples

我wǒ家jiā离lí公gōng司sī很hěn近jìn。
My home is near the office.
学xué校xiào离lí这zhè里lǐ远yuǎn吗ma？
Is the school far from here?
火huǒ车chē站zhàn离lí这zhè儿r不bù远yuǎn。
The train station isn’t far from here.
