First… then… (先…再…)

Structure 先 + action 1 + 再 + action 2

To put two actions in sequence you use 先 (first) + … + 再 (then/afterwards): 先吃饭，再做作业 = "first eat, then do homework". Here 再 isn’t "again" but "next". 先…然后… works the same way.

Examples

先xiān吃chī饭fàn，再zài做zuò作zuò业yè。
First eat, then do your homework.
我wǒ们men先xiān去qù，然rán后hòu再zài说shuō。
Let’s go first and see later.
先xiān洗xǐ手shǒu再zài吃chī饭fàn。
Wash your hands before eating.
