Confirming with 是不是

Structure 是不是 + … ? (or … 是不是?)

是不是 is used to confirm something you already suspect: "isn’t it…?, right?". It’s flexible: it can go at the front (是不是你忘了？), in the middle (你是不是病了？) or at the end (你忘了，是不是？). It expects a yes or no, and takes no 吗.

Examples

你nǐ是shì不bù是shì中zhōng国guó人rén？
You’re Chinese, aren’t you?
他tā是shì不bù是shì病bìng了le？
Is he sick, or what?
这zhè是shì不bù是shì你nǐ的de？
This is yours, isn’t it?
