Approximate amounts

Structure number + 左右 / 多 · 大约 + number

To say "roughly" there are several pieces. 左右 goes AFTER and means "around": 三十岁左右 ("around thirty"). 多 after the number marks "-something": 三十多个 ("thirty-odd"). 大约 (or 大概) goes BEFORE: 大约二十块 ("about twenty yuan"). They can be combined with care.

Examples

这zhè里lǐ有yǒu三sān十shí多duō个ge人rén。
There are thirty-odd people here.
他tā三sān十shí岁suì左zuǒ右yòu。
He’s around thirty.
大dà约yuē要yào一yī个ge小xiǎo时shí。
It takes about an hour.
