All along with 一直

Structure 一直 + Verb

一直 (yīzhí) means "continuously / the whole time / all along": 我一直在等你 = "I’ve been waiting for you all this time". It marks unbroken continuity, and also "straight ahead" (一直走 = "go straight"). It goes before the verb.

Examples

我wǒ一yī直zhí在zài等děng你nǐ。
I’ve been waiting for you all along.
他tā一yī直zhí很hěn忙máng。
He’s always very busy.
雨yǔ一yī直zhí下xià到dào晚wǎn上shàng。
It rained nonstop until evening.
