Structure 难道 + … + 吗？

难道 (nándào) opens a RHETORICAL question of surprise or reproach: "don’t tell me…?, you mean…?". It doesn’t seek an answer; it expresses surprise or disagreement: 难道你不知道吗？ = "you mean you didn’t know?". It usually closes with 吗. It goes at the start or after the subject.

Examples

难nán道dào你nǐ不bù知zhī道dào吗ma？
You mean you didn’t know?
难nán道dào这zhè都dōu是shì真zhēn的de？
Don’t tell me all this is true?
难nán道dào你nǐ忘wàng了le？
Don’t tell me you forgot?
