Keep doing with 下去

Structure Verb + 下去

下去 (xiàqù), besides "downward" (走下去 = "walk down"), marks CONTINUING an action already begun: 请说下去 = "go on, keep talking". 这样下去不行 = "we can’t go on like this". The potential negative is V不下去 ("can’t carry on"): 我学不下去了.

Examples

请qǐng说shuō下xià去qù。
Please go on.
我wǒ学xué不bù下xià去qù了le。
I can’t keep studying anymore.
这zhè样yàng下xià去qù不bù行xíng。
We can’t go on like this.
