Figuring out with 出来

Structure Verb + 出来

出来 (chūlái), apart from "come out", figuratively marks that something is DETECTED, recognized or figured out from clues: 我听出来了 = "I recognized it (by ear)"; 我没看出来 = "I didn’t notice (by looking)". It follows perception or thinking verbs. Potential form: 看得出来 / 看不出来.

    I recognized it (by ear).

  • méikànchūlái

    I couldn’t tell.

  • cāichūláilema

    Did you figure it out?
