HSK 5 Comparison
不比
No more… than… (不比)
Structure A + 不比 + B + adjective
不比 (bùbǐ) is the negation of 比, but it doesn’t mean "less than": it means "no more… (rather, the same or even less)". It usually pushes back on a mistaken assumption. 我的中文不比他差 = "my Chinese is no worse than his" (i.e., it’s on par). Careful: to say "A is inferior to B" use A 不如 B, not 不比.
Examples
- 我的中文不比他差。
My Chinese is no worse than his.
- 今天不比昨天热。
Today is no hotter than yesterday.
- 这家店的菜不比那家好。
The food here is no better than at that place.
Levels are indicative: they follow the standard Chinese Grammar Wiki (AllSet Learning) progression, not an official HSK 3.0 mapping. We never assign levels by eye.
