Finally / at last (总算)

Structure 总算 + what finally happens

总算 (zǒngsuàn) expresses relief that, after a long wait or effort, something finally happens: 等了一个小时，车总算来了 = "after waiting an hour, the bus finally came". It’s very close to 终于, but 总算 carries more of a relieved "at last" feeling. Almost always with 了 at the end.

Examples

等děng了le一yī个ge小xiǎo时shí，车chē总zǒng算suàn来lái了le。
After waiting an hour, the bus finally came.
努nǔ力lì了le这zhè么me久jiǔ，总zǒng算suàn成chéng功gōng了le。
After so much effort, I finally succeeded.
问wèn题tí总zǒng算suàn解jiě决jué了le。
