Structure (再 … 也) 不至于 + extreme outcome

不至于 (bùzhìyú) denies that a situation reaches an extreme: "it won't go so far as to…", "it's not that bad". It often closes a concession opened by 再…也…: 再生气，也不至于动手吧 = "however angry he is, surely it won't come to blows". It conveys that, despite what was said, the feared or exaggerated outcome won't be reached. Unlike plain 不会 "won't", 不至于 explicitly gauges a degree or limit that is not crossed.

Examples

再zài生shēng气qì，也yě不bù至zhì于yú动dòng手shǒu吧ba。
However angry you are, surely it won't come to blows.
只zhǐ是shì迟chí到dào一yī次cì，不bù至zhì于yú被bèi开kāi除chú。
It's just being late once; it won't go so far as getting you fired.
损sǔn失shī虽suī大dà，但dàn还hái不bù至zhì于yú无wú法fǎ挽wǎn回huí。
Though the loss is large, it isn't to the point of being beyond repair.
他tā平píng时shí很hěn谨jǐn慎shèn，不bù至zhì于yú犯fàn这zhè种zhǒng错cuò误wù。
He's usually very careful; he wouldn't go so far as to make such a mistake.
