HSK 6 Verb usage
无所 + 动词
Nothing to… (无所 + verb)
Structure 无所 + verb (/ 无所不 + verb)
无所 (wú suǒ) is the negative counterpart of 有所: "there is nothing that…". It crystallizes into fixed four-character expressions: 无所事事 = "to have nothing to do, to idle about"; 无所适从 = "not to know which way to turn"; 无所谓 = "it makes no difference". Literary in register, it keeps the flavour of Classical Chinese (无 "there is not" + nominalizing 所). It also combines with 无所不 (wú suǒ bù), "there is nothing that one does not…", to assert the absolute emphatically: 无所不能 = "omnipotent, able to do anything".
