HSK 6 Adverbs

终究 / 终归

In the end / after all (终究/终归)

Structure Subject + 终究 / 终归 + inevitable result

终究 (zhōngjiū) and 终归 (zhōngguī) express that, after all the twists and difficulties, something inevitably comes to pass: "in the end", "after all". 再大的困难终归会过去 = "however great the hardships, they will eventually pass". They go before the verb and stress the certain outcome. Unlike 毕竟 (HSK 4), which justifies something by appealing to an underlying fact ("after all, he's just a child"), 终究/终归 point to the final result of time passing, not to a cause.
