HSK 2 Adverbs

比较

Fairly / rather with 比较

Structure 比较 + adjective

比较 (bǐjiào) before an adjective means "fairly / rather", a soft comparison without naming the other term: 今天比较冷 = "it’s rather cold today". It softens the adjective (less absolute than 很). Unlike 比, it needs no second term.

Examples

  • jīntiānjiàolěng

    It’s fairly cold today.

  • zhègejiào便piányi

    This one is fairly cheap.

  • zhōngwénjiàonán

    Chinese is fairly hard.

Levels are indicative: they follow the standard Chinese Grammar Wiki (AllSet Learning) progression, not an official HSK 3.0 mapping. We never assign levels by eye.
