Degree complement with 得

Structure Verb + 得 + (很) + adjective

To assess HOW something is done you use 得 (de) between the verb and the assessment: 他跑得很快 = "he runs very fast". If there’s an object, the verb is repeated: 他说中文说得很好. Don’t confuse this 得 (de, complement particle) with 得 (děi, "must"): same character, different sound, and here it’s toneless.

Examples

他tā跑pǎo得de很hěn快kuài。
He runs very fast.
你nǐ说shuō得de对duì。
You’re right.
她tā唱chàng得de很hěn好hǎo。
She sings very well.
