HSK 2 Adverbs

Then / as early as with 就

Structure Subject + 就 + Verb

就 (jiù) is a very flexible adverb; its core idea is "and then, without delay". It marks that something happens soon or earlier than expected: 他五点就起床了 = "he got up as early as five". It also links two events in a row: "as soon as… (then)": 我吃了饭就走 = "as soon as I eat, I’ll leave". It goes before the verb.

Examples

  • diǎnjiùchuángle

He got up as early as five.

  • chīlefànjiùzǒu

As soon as I eat, I’ll go.

  • dàojiājiùgěidiànhuà

Call me as soon as you get home.

Levels are indicative: they follow the standard Chinese Grammar Wiki (AllSet Learning) progression, not an official HSK 3.0 mapping. We never assign levels by eye.
