Never with 从来

Structure 从来 + 不 / 没(有) + Verb

从来 (cónglái) refers to "ever since up to now" and almost always pairs with negation: 从来不 ("never, as a rule") or 从来没(有) ("never up to now, not once"). 我从来不吸烟 = "I never smoke"; 他从来没去过中国 = "he’s never been to China". The 不/没 split is the usual one: habit vs. experience.

Examples

我wǒ从cóng来lái不bù吸xī烟yān。
I never smoke.
他tā从cóng来lái没méi去qù过guò中zhōng国guó。
He’s never been to China.
我wǒ从cóng来lái不bù喝hē酒jiǔ。
I never drink.
