Structure 一定 + (要/会) + Verb

一定 (yīdìng) means "for sure, without fail". With 要 it expresses firm intention or insistence: 你一定要来 = "you must come, no excuses". With 会 it expresses certainty about the future: 他一定会成功 = "he’s sure to succeed". It goes before the modal or verb.

Examples

  • dìngyàolái

    You really must come.

  • míngtiāndìngdào

    I’ll definitely be there tomorrow.

  • dìnghuìchénggōng

    He’s sure to succeed.
