Structure 多 / 少 + Verb (+ amount)

Before the verb, 多 (duō) and 少 (shǎo) mean doing "more" or "less" of something: 多吃点儿 = "eat a bit more"; 少说话 = "talk less". Very common in advice. They’re often followed by a small amount (点儿) or the object: 多喝水, 少吃糖.

Examples

  • duōchīdiǎnrcài

    Eat a bit more veggies.

  • yàoduōshuǐ

    You should drink more water.

  • shǎoshuōduōzuò

    Talk less, do more.
