Especially with 特别

Structure 特别 + adjective / Verb

特别 (tèbié) before an adjective means "especially / particularly": 今天特别冷 = "it’s especially cold today". It’s more emphatic than 很. It also means "special" as an adjective and, with 是, "above all" (特别是…). It goes before what it intensifies.

Examples

今jīn天tiān特tè别bié冷lěng。
It’s especially cold today.
我wǒ特tè别bié喜xǐ欢huan吃chī面miàn条tiáo。
I especially love eating noodles.
这zhè里lǐ的de菜cài特tè别bié好hǎo吃chī。
The food here is especially good.
