At the same time with 一边…一边…

Structure 一边 + action 1 + 一边 + action 2

一边…一边… (yībiān… yībiān…) marks two actions done AT THE SAME TIME by the same subject: 他一边走一边唱 = "he walks and sings at the same time". Each 一边 goes before a verb. In fast speech it can be reduced. It’s for simultaneous actions, not alternating ones.

Examples

他tā一yī边biān走zǒu一yī边biān唱chàng。
He walks while singing.
我wǒ喜xǐ欢huan一yī边biān吃chī饭fàn一yī边biān看kàn电diàn视shì。
I like to eat while watching TV.
别bié一yī边biān开kāi车chē一yī边biān打dǎ电diàn话huà。
Don’t talk on the phone while driving.
