Forced to with 不得不

Structure 不得不 + Verb

不得不 (bùdébù) is a double negative meaning "have no choice but to, be forced to": 太晚了，我不得不走了 = "it got so late I had to leave". It stresses obligation under external pressure. Similar to 只好, but it focuses on the unavoidable NECESSITY.

Examples

我wǒ不bù得dé不bù承chéng认rèn他tā是shì对duì的de。
I have to admit he’s right.
没méi钱qián了le，他tā不bù得dé不bù找zhǎo工gōng作zuò。
Out of money, he was forced to find a job.
太tài晚wǎn了le，我wǒ不bù得dé不bù走zǒu了le。
It was so late I had to leave.
