Why bother with 何必

Structure 何必 + Verb + (呢)？

何必 (hébì) is a rhetorical question meaning "why bother…?, what need is there to…?", implying something isn’t worth it: 何必这么着急？ = "why get so worked up?". It expects no answer; it advises against it. It often closes with 呢.

Examples

何hé必bì这zhè么me着zháo急jí？
Why be in such a rush?
何hé必bì生shēng气qì呢ne？
Why get angry?
这zhè点diǎn小xiǎo事shì，何hé必bì呢ne？
Over such a small thing, why bother?
