Both… and… (既…又…)

Structure 既 + A + 又 + B

既…又… (jì… yòu…) adds two qualities at once, like 又…又…, but sounds a bit more formal or written: 这个办法既简单又有效 = "this method is both simple and effective". Each part goes before an adjective or verb. Very common in polished descriptions.

Examples

这zhè个ge办bàn法fǎ既jì简jiǎn单dān又yòu有yǒu效xiào。
This method is both simple and effective.
她tā既jì聪cōng明míng又yòu努nǔ力lì。
She’s both smart and hardworking.
这zhè里lǐ既jì安ān静jìng又yòu方fāng便biàn。
It’s both quiet and convenient here.
