Almost with 几乎

Structure 几乎 + Verb / adjective

几乎 (jīhū) means "almost": something that fell just short. 我几乎每天都跑步 = "I run almost every day"; 他几乎没睡觉 = "he hardly slept". It goes before the verb. It pairs often with 都 (几乎都) and with negation (几乎不/没).

Examples

我wǒ几jī乎hū每měi天tiān都dōu跑pǎo步bù。
I run almost every day.
他tā几jī乎hū没méi睡shuì觉jiào。
He hardly slept.
教jiào室shì里lǐ几jī乎hū没méi有yǒu人rén。
There’s almost no one in the classroom.
