Even if… with 即使…也…

Structure 即使 + hypothetical，也 + result

即使…也… (jíshǐ… yě…) raises an extreme hypothesis that would NOT change the outcome: 即使下雨，我也要去 = "even if it rains, I’ll still go". Unlike 虽然 (a real fact), 即使 is something hypothetical or taken to the limit. 也 marks that the result holds.

Examples

即jí使shǐ下xià雨yǔ，我wǒ也yě要yào去qù。
Even if it rains, I’ll still go.
即jí使shǐ很hěn难nán，他tā也yě不bù放fàng弃qì。
Even if it’s hard, he won’t give up.
即jí使shǐ你nǐ不bù说shuō，我wǒ也yě知zhī道dào。
Even if you don’t say it, I know.
