For… / as far as… is concerned (对…来说)

Structure 对 + person/thing + 来说，assessment

对…来说 (duì… láishuō) frames the standpoint from which something is judged: "for…, as far as… is concerned". 对我来说，健康最重要 = "for me, health matters most". It comes at the start, before the assessment. It’s extremely useful for giving an opinion qualified by "depending on whose view".

Examples

对duì我wǒ来lái说shuō，健jiàn康kāng最zuì重zhòng要yào。
For me, health matters most.
对duì学xué生shēng来lái说shuō，学xué习xí是shì第dì一yī位wèi的de。
For a student, studying comes first.
这zhè件jiàn事shì对duì他tā来lái说shuō很hěn简jiǎn单dān。
For him, this is very easy.
