Therefore / consequently (因而)

Structure Cause，因而 + consequence

因而 (yīn’ér) links a cause to its consequence, like a formal "therefore": 他准备得很充分，因而很顺利 = "he prepared thoroughly, and therefore it went smoothly". It’s the logical conclusion of what precedes. Similar to 所以 but more formal and written; it doesn’t need a preceding 因为.

Examples

他tā准zhǔn备bèi得de很hěn充chōng分fèn，因yīn而ér很hěn顺shùn利lì。
He prepared thoroughly, so it went smoothly.
价jià格gé太tài高gāo，因yīn而ér卖mài得de不bù好hǎo。
The price was too high, so it sold poorly.
他tā经jīng验yàn丰fēng富fù，因yīn而ér很hěn受shòu欢huān迎yíng。
He’s very experienced, so he’s in high demand.
