HSK 5 Connectors & compound sentences

因而

Therefore / consequently (因而)

Structure Cause,因而 + consequence

因而 (yīn’ér) links a cause to its consequence, like a formal "therefore": 他准备得很充分,因而很顺利 = "he prepared thoroughly, and therefore it went smoothly". It’s the logical conclusion of what precedes. Similar to 所以 but more formal and written; it doesn’t need a preceding 因为.
