Might as well / just go ahead (索性)

Structure premise（反正…），索性 + decisive action

索性 (suǒxìng) conveys the resolve to settle something once and for all, once a premise is granted: «might as well just… and be done with it». 反正睡不着，索性起来工作 = «I couldn't sleep anyway, so I just got up and worked». It often closes a 反正 correlation («since it's so anyway…») and lends a narrative air of a clean-cut decision. It is very close to 干脆 (HSK 5), but 索性 is somewhat more literary and better narrates the turn of someone who stops resisting and gets straight to it.

Examples

反fǎn正zhèng睡shuì不bù着zháo，索suǒ性xìng起qǐ来lái工gōng作zuò。
I couldn't sleep anyway, so I just got up and worked.
既jì然rán话huà已yǐ说shuō到dào这zhè里lǐ，索suǒ性xìng把bǎ实shí情qíng讲jiǎng清qīng楚chu。
Since we've gone this far, let's just lay out the whole truth.
修xiū了le几jǐ次cì都dōu没méi用yòng，他tā索suǒ性xìng换huàn了le一yī台tái新xīn的de。
After several fruitless repairs, he just went and bought a new one.
反fǎn正zhèng都dōu要yào重chóng做zuò，索suǒ性xìng从cóng头tóu来lái一yī遍biàn。
Since it all has to be redone anyway, might as well start over from scratch.
