HSK 6 Adverbs

索性

Might as well / just go ahead (索性)

Structure premise(反正…),索性 + decisive action

索性 (suǒxìng) conveys the resolve to settle something once and for all, once a premise is granted: «might as well just… and be done with it». 反正睡不着,索性起来工作 = «I couldn't sleep anyway, so I just got up and worked». It often closes a 反正 correlation («since it's so anyway…») and lends a narrative air of a clean-cut decision. It is very close to 干脆 (HSK 5), but 索性 is somewhat more literary and better narrates the turn of someone who stops resisting and gets straight to it.
