Structure … (prior fact / goal)，为此 + action taken

为此 (wèicǐ) is an anaphoric written-register connector: the 此 ("this") picks up what was just said, and 为此 frames it as the cause or purpose of what follows — "for this reason / to this end". 他想出国，为此努力学了三年英语 = "he wanted to go abroad; to that end he studied English hard for three years". It covers two shades depending on context: purpose ("in order to achieve that") and cause ("as a result of that"). Here 为 is read wèi (fourth tone), not wéi. It is the formal, condensed equivalent of 为了这个 or 因为这个; it opens the second clause and is usually followed by an action verb.

他tā想xiǎng出chū国guó，为wèi此cǐ努nǔ力lì学xué了le三sān年nián英yīng语yǔ。
He wanted to go abroad; to that end he studied English hard for three years.
公gōng司sī业yè绩jì下xià滑huá，为wèi此cǐ召zhào开kāi了le紧jǐn急jí会huì议yì。
The company's results declined; for this reason an emergency meeting was called.
他tā立lì志zhì从cóng医yī，为wèi此cǐ付fù出chū了le多duō年nián努nǔ力lì。
He resolved to become a doctor and, to that end, put in many years of effort.
此cǐ事shì影yǐng响xiǎng重zhòng大dà，特tè为wèi此cǐ致zhì歉qiàn。
