To some extent / somewhat (有所 + verb)

Structure Subject + 有所 + disyllabic verb

有所 (yǒu suǒ) + a disyllabic verb softens the statement: it says something happens "to some extent, up to a point", without specifying how much. It renders "to show some…": 情况有所好转 = "the situation has improved somewhat"; 对这件事我有所了解 = "I know a little about this matter". The 所 is the classical nominalizing particle, so the following verb must be disyllabic and abstract in tone (好转, 了解, 改善, 提高, 下降); it admits neither monosyllabic verbs nor complements. It is very common in journalism and reports, where it tempers a judgement.

经jīng过guò治zhì疗liáo，病bìng情qíng有yǒu所suǒ好hǎo转zhuǎn。
After treatment, the condition has improved somewhat.
对duì这zhè件jiàn事shì，我wǒ多duō少shǎo有yǒu所suǒ了liǎo解jiě。
