HSK 6 Numbers & measure words
… 之大 / 之高 / 之深
Of such magnitude (之大/之高…)
Structure Noun + 之 + degree adjective (大/高/深/广/众) +(assessment)
之 + adjective nominalizes the DEGREE of a noun to exclaim how enormous it is: the noun comes first and 之+adjective follows, working like an abstract noun ("the magnitude of…"). 影响之大,前所未有 = "the magnitude of its impact is unprecedented". It covers 之广 (the breadth), 之众 (how numerous), 之深 (the depth). It belongs to journalism and learned essays, almost always capped by an assessment (前所未有, 令人震惊, 难以想象). Don't confuse it with 之极/之至, which cap an adjective at its utmost: 之大 measures the magnitude of a NOUN.
