HSK 2 Comparison

更 / 还

Even more with 更 and 还

Structure 更 / 还 + adjective

更 (gèng) means "even more" and reinforces a comparison already taken for granted: 我高,他更高 ("I’m tall; he’s even taller"). It can pair with 比: 他比我更高. 还 (hái) before an adjective has a similar, often more expressive, nuance. Unlike 很, these really do mean "more".
