Since / now that with 既然…就…

Structure 既然 + given fact，就 + conclusion

既然…就… (jìrán… jiù…) starts from an ALREADY accepted fact to draw a logical conclusion: "since…, then…". 既然来了，就别走了 = "since you’re here, don’t leave". Unlike 因为 (which gives new cause), 既然 picks up something both already know. 就 opens the conclusion.

Examples

既jì然rán来lái了le，就jiù别bié走zǒu了le。
Since you’re here, don’t leave.
既jì然rán你nǐ不bù舒shū服fu，就jiù好hǎo好hǎo休xiū息xi。
Since you’re not well, get some good rest.
既jì然rán决jué定dìng了le，就jiù别bié后hòu悔huǐ。
Now that you’ve decided, don’t regret it.
