Structure 偏偏 + fact that goes against expectation

偏偏 (piānpiān) expresses that things turned out exactly opposite to what was wanted or expected, often with annoyance: "of all things… / just my luck…". 我想去，偏偏下起了大雨 = "I really wanted to go, and of course it started pouring". It also marks going against everyone else: 大家都同意，偏偏他反对 = "everyone agreed, and he, of all people, objected".

Examples

我wǒ想xiǎng去qù，偏piān偏piān下xià起qǐ了le大dà雨yǔ。
I really wanted to go, and of course it started pouring.
大dà家jiā都dōu同tóng意yì，偏piān偏piān他tā反fǎn对duì。
Everyone agreed, and he, of all people, objected.
我wǒ找zhǎo他tā的de时shí候hou，他tā偏piān偏piān不bù在zài。
Just when I was looking for him, he wasn’t there.
