As if / like (似的)
Structure (像 / 好像 …)+ thing/action + 似的
似的 (shìde) goes at the end to say something "seems like" or is "as if it were" something else: 他高兴得像孩子似的 = "he’s happy like a child". 天阴得像要下雨似的 = "the sky looks as if it’s about to rain". It’s very often accompanied by 像 or 好像 in front. Note: 似 here reads shì (not sì).
Examples
- 他高兴得像孩子似的。
He’s as happy as a child.
- 天阴得像要下雨似的。
The sky is overcast as if it’s about to rain.
- 他跑得像飞似的。
He runs as if he were flying.
