HSK 6 Time & dates

迄今(为止) / 至今 / 时至今日

To date / up to now (迄今为止/至今)

Structure 迄今为止 / 至今,… (continuity up to the present);时至今日,… (after so long, still today…)

迄今为止 (qìjīn wéizhǐ) and 至今 (zhìjīn) mark that something extends or remains unresolved up to the moment of speaking: "to date", "up to now". 迄今为止 opens the clause as a stocktaking ("to date there is still no conclusion"); 至今 goes before the verb and tends to accompany a lingering state (尚 / 仍 / 还). 时至今日 (shí zhì jīnrì) adds the nuance of "after so much time has passed, even today…", with a tone of reproach or resignation: 时至今日,问题依旧 = "at this point, the problem is still the same". All three are written, cultured register; 迄 takes the reading qì.
