与此同时 (yǔ cǐ tóngshí), 'at the same time as this', is a simultaneity connector very common in press and essay writing: after stating one fact, it introduces another that unfolds in parallel, often carrying a sense of consequence or trade-off (economic growth ⇄ environmental cost). It opens the clause and is followed by a comma. Unlike colloquial 同时 or 一边…一边…, it links two processes at the level of discourse, not two actions of a single person.

Examples

经jīng济jì快kuài速sù增zēng长zhǎng，与yǔ此cǐ同tóng时shí，环huán境jìng也yě付fù出chū了le沉chén重zhòng代dài价jià。
The economy grew rapidly; meanwhile, the environment also paid a heavy price.
公gōng司sī扩kuò大dà了le规guī模mó，与yǔ此cǐ同tóng时shí，管guǎn理lǐ难nán度dù也yě随suí之zhī上shàng升shēng。
The company expanded; at the same time, the difficulty of managing it rose accordingly.
科kē技jì带dài来lái便biàn利lì，与yǔ此cǐ同tóng时shí，也yě引yǐn发fā了le隐yǐn私sī的de担dān忧yōu。
Technology brings convenience; meanwhile, it also raises privacy concerns.
